That said, the Cyber Monday sales are happening next week and are the perfect chance for you to get AMAZING deals without the crowds, walking, rushing, waiting in lines, and more. This time you can sit back in your comfy chair with a blanket, coffee mug in hand, and (in my case) a basset hound snoozing next to you. THIS is the way to shop!
Something from a friend's store -- Rhythm Reindeer!
Well you can be that I'm going to try and keep things fresh with this awesome pack from Tina Jones, the "Totally Tuned In Teacher!" Tina has made this awesome set of Rhythm Reindeer where sign-holding, antler wearing, forest friends hold up rhythms that they want you to read and clap. What's more you can get these rhythm friends to hold up standard or stick notation (depending on what you prefer to use in your room). It makes something that can easily lose its appeal turn into something exciting and new. I could see myself using this initially with whole-group instruction and then maybe passing out kits for small groups to work on together.
There are two Rhythm Reindeer packs so far. Click this link to head over to the first set and see everything that's included!
Something from My Store -- Favorite Carols!
These sets are just like my "Favorite Folk Song" sets and come with historical information about each carol, slides with lyrics, printed music (often with multiple melodies or variations), slides that explain old archaic vocabulary, games or traditions that apply, and more. They're filled with everything you'll need to teach the carol and reinforce your content. I'm going to hang several of these in the hallway outside my room so that any time kids walk by they can learn more about the songs we're using in class and stay excited about these fun carols. Check below to see examples from some of the carol song sets and see what sorts of things are included!
something else you need -- Jingle Bell Activities!
Look no further! Our good friend Daria has made this awesome little kit to help jingle bell crafts with your kiddos. There are step-by-step instructions on how to construct Jingle Pencils/Jingle Sticks, Jingle Bracelets/Anklets, Jingle Tubes, or Marching Jingle Sticks. These would also be perfect to share with classroom teachers to spread some of the holiday love. I know that many of my teachers get past the testing windows and close to the holiday and need to fill a little time or want something at their holiday parties other than candy eating and running around. And I always end up with an off day due to a snow day or concert cycle and a music-themed craft like this would be a life-saver.
